If you are looking for a fun, easy and beautiful ornament to make with the kids this DIY: Melted Crayon Ornament is just the thing!  With a few simple tools and supplies you can create a truly beautiful ornament with your kids to go on your tree or to give as a gift this year.  Grab a few paint pens or a little paint and brush and paint their name and the year on each ornament to commemorate when you created these fun gifts together!

Items Needed:

  • Red & Green Crayons
  • Clear Glass Ornament
  • Hair Dryer





  • Break your red and green crayons into small pieces and place a few pieces of each color into the glass ornament.
  • Using a hair dryer, apply heat to the ornament until the crayon starts to melt.
  • Once the crayons start to melt, swirl the pieces inside the ornament to coat the inside.
  • *If crayons get stuck, apply more heat with the hair dryer.


What a fun craft to make with your kids!  You can use only one color crayon, multiple colors to create a tie dye effect or mix colors to create a new color.  Most craft supply stores and large retailers will carry clear glass and plastic ornaments during the holiday season for activities just like this.  Create your own new “set” of ornaments for a beautiful and unique way to decorate your tree this year and for years to come!
