We spend hundreds of dollars a year on special lotions and creams to make our skin look and feel better, but how about making something at home for a fraction of the cost that is even better for you?  This Easy Homemade Body Butter is a great way to quench your thirsty skin as well as an excellent gift item to give for Mother’s Day, Teachers Appreciation Gifts or just because!

Easy Homemade Body Butter

EASY HOMEMADE BODY BUTTER

 

INGREDIENTS: 

½ Cup Cocoa Butter

½ Cup Shea Butter

½ Cup Coconut Oil

1 Tbsp Vitamin E oil

Essential Oil of Choice

1 Tbsp Cornstarch (Optional)

Airtight Container

Stand or Hand Mixer

 

DIRECTIONS:

  • In a double boiler, combine cocoa butter, shea butter and coconut oil and allow to melt over low heat.
  • Once everything is melted, allow to cool in the refrigerator for 1 hour.
  • Add in essential oil and cornstarch and beat on high speed, for 5-8 minutes or until stiff peaks form.
  • Place back in refrigerator for 10 minutes to set.
  • Place in a clean, dry airtight jar and enjoy!

SUGAR COOKIE SCRUB!

Here is another one of our favorite simple homemade scrubs that is perfect for gift giving for the holiday season.  This Sugar Cookie Scrub can be whipped up in small batches or large batches with things you already have on hand in your home!  I love how versatile it is and how wonderful it smells.  This is a perfect gift item for your coworkers, a baby shower favor, bridal shower or of course the upcoming holiday gifting needs.  A few simple items you have at home plus a unique jar or bottle to store it in creates a luscious scrub every woman will love!

SUGAR COOKIE SCRUB

INGREDIENTS

  • 1/2 cup Granulated Sugar
  • 1/2 cup Brown Sugar
  • 1/4 cup Coconut Oil
  • 1/2 tsp Vanilla Extract
  • 1/2 tsp Almond Extract

 

DIRECTIONS

  • Pour sugar into small bowl.
  • Pour brown sugar into another small bowl.
  • Add half of the coconut oil, almond and vanilla to each bowl.
  • Mix in coconut oil (add more if you like a wet consistency).
  • Add your sugars to the jar in layers. Press your Sugar down with a spoon or I use a can to compact.
  • Alternate layers

Homemade Peppermint Sugar Scrub Recipe

Nothing feels better after a long day than to step into a hot shower or bath and pamper yourself with some wonderful smelling bath products.  Here is a great Homemade Peppermint Sugar Scrub that is great not only for making and keeping to use on those nights you need some soothing stress relief, but also an excellent way for you to create inexpensive yet luxurious feeling Christmas gifts for the friends, teachers and coworkers you want to give just a little something to during holiday gift exchanges. Here’s a great Homemade Peppermint Sugar Scrub Recipe that you will love!

Homemade Peppermint Sugar Scrub

INGREDIENTS
2 cup Sugar
1/4 cup Coconut Oil
Red Food Coloring
Peppermint Essentials Oil (found near Candle Making Supplies at Hobby Lobby or Online)

 

 

 

 

 

 

DIRECTIONS

  • Pour sugar into medium sized bowl.
  • Mix in coconut oil (add more if you like a wet consistency).
  • Add a few drops of your Peppermint Essentials Oil.
  • Divide your sugar mixture into two equal sized portions.
  • Mix in a few drops of red food coloring to one portion (be careful not to add too much or you will have a bright red).
  • Add your sugars to the jar in layers. Press your Sugar down with a spoon or use a can to compact.
  • Alternate between your pink and white layers
  • Add a Label to the front and maybe a ribbon to gift.

After a long hard day of work, errands and Christmas shopping your body can use a little extra pampering.  These Homemade Peppermint Bubbling Bath Salts are just what you need and so easy to make for yourself at home!  They also make a truly perfect gift for your girlfriends, sisters or kids teachers this year for Christmas!  Create a large batch and funnel into decorative jars.  Tie a pretty ribbon around the top and share as part of a gift basket of treats for a special lady in your life.

Peppermint Bubbling Bath Salt

Homemade Peppermint Bubbling Bath Salts

Ingredients:
6 Cups Kosher or Epsom Salt
¾ Cup Unscented Body Wash
1 tbsp Carrier Oil (Coconut, Sweet Almond, Olive)
3-4 Drops Peppermint Essential Oil
Red Food Coloring (Optional)

Peppermint Bubbling Bath Salt Process

Directions:

  • In a large bowl, combine salt and body wash, and mix until well combined.
  • Add in your essential oil and carrier oil and mix well.
  • Separate salts into two bowls and using your red food coloring, add a few drops at a time into 1 bowl, stirring until you get a uniform color throughout.
  • On a lined baking sheet, spread the salt mixture out into a thin layer. Allow to dry for 24 hours.
  • Once dry, break up any large clumps, and spoon into a decorative airtight container or jar, alternating between the two colors.

To Use:
Add ¼ Cup of Bubbly Bath Salts under running water.

Do you have a special Saturday or Sunday morning breakfast with your family each week?  Perhaps it’s a weekly tradition for you to prepare something special or a favorite breakfast on the weekends for your kids.  Why not surprise them this weekend with this adorable Donut Bottle Snowmen!  Using a few fun items like recycled bottles, store bought donuts and cute paper straws you can create this simple and fun Donut Bottle Snowmen and have next to their place setting when you call them to the table for their favorite breakfast this weekend.  Check out the instructions below and create your own version of these cute craft treats!

Donut Bottle Snowmen: cute holiday idea!

INGREDIENTS


3 9.5oz empty Starbucks Frappucino bottles
Milk (to fill bottles)
3 Mini Donuts
3 Decorative Straws
Felt to make scarves
Sixlets or other shiny candy balls
Black Gel Icing
Orange starburst (for noses)
1/4 cup White Candy Melts

DIRECTIONS

  • Cut Felt into 1″ strip and wrap around neck of bottle as scarf.
  • Fasten in place with glue.
  • Heat White Candy Chips in small bowl by microwaving for 30 seconds stirring and repeating until melted.
  • using a toothpick place drops of candy on front of bottle to act as glue and place sixlets as buttons.
  • Allow to set.
  • Carefully push straw through mini donut.
  • Using black icing make dots for eyes and mouth.
  • Cut Starburst into thirds. Then cut each of these diagonally and roll with fingers to form carrot noses.
  • Dip end or carrot noses in white chocolate and place in center of donuts.
  • Allow to set.
  • Fill bottles with milk, and insert straw.

Choose your child’s favorite colors for the felt scarf, add embellishments to suit their style or favorite character even to create a unique to them Donut Bottle Snowmen!  Use chocolate milk and chocolate covered donuts or even cinnamon donuts with apple cider for a different twist on the same theme!

DIY Button Flower Bouquets materials

Materials:

  • Assorted buttons (Found at most thrift stores or crafting store)
  • Florists wire (Found at most craft stores for around $1.99)
  • Scissors
  • Small vase
  • Shredded green paper (optional)

Directions:

1. Cut your wire into 5-6 inch lengths.
2. Fold the top inch or so over into a “U” shape.
3. String your first button on the “U”, starting with smallest first.
4. Repeat this step again using your next button, getting larger in size.
5. Continue to stack the buttons smallest to largest in this manner until your “bloom” has formed.
6. Typically, 3-5 buttons is sufficient!
7. Make a few tiny “buds’ by repeating this step and only using 2 buttons.
8. Once your buttons are on, twist the head to hold them in place.
9. Assemble your blooms in a small vase. Add shredded paper to act as a filler and hold your stems in place if you wish!

  • string
  • scissors
  • mini hole punch (optional) or tape

Directions:

1. The first thing you’ll do after you gather your supplies is create an egg-shaped template to trace on the back of all of your chips. You can freehand one or find a template online.
2. After you’ve traced and cut out all your eggs, punch two holes along the top and then thread the string through.
3. Or, you can just opt to tape your eggs in place with a little clear tape. Easy peasy!
4. Once your eggs are secure, choose a spot to hang your garland and voila! A mantel or entryway is ideal for this colorful and fresh piece!
